The Mayor of Oldham was honoured to officially open a special area of reflection for people to remember those who lost their lives to Covid.
Oldham has marked today’s Covid-19 Day of Reflection – a national day to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives since the pandemic began and to honour the tireless work of health and social care staff, frontline workers and researchers, and the acts of kindness and sacrifices by volunteers – with a poignant memorial garden in the stunning Alexandra Park. The opening also marks five years since the pandemic began.
A memorial boulder and bench now take pride of place in the park for visitors to visit and reflect. People can view the Covid Memorial Garden by accessing the park from the car park near the bowling green and heading towards the conservatory.
