Opening Speech Request To Councillors

Today at Annual council meeting, I used my opening speech to ask all councillors to work together to support and help :

Our deprived wards

•7 out of 20 wards who are in the top 10% of most deprived wards in the country

• woman of my town who die 3 years younger than the average person in the UK (2 year young if you’re a man).

•We have the 2nd highest infant mortality in the UK

•Help those 4 in 10 children of our town who leave primary school overweight or obese

•Help those who received 12000 food parcels the last 12 months by one of foodbank

•Help over 9% Youth who are unemployed much higher than other places in the country

•Help 44% of children in Oldham who are living in poverty.

And help CSE sufferers by listening learning and getting them true Justice

And ensuring that today our children and vulnerable are safe

I have asked Cllrs to focus on issues faced by this town by setting right polices and by making transparent decisions

I also requested to treat each other with respect and focus on issues not personalities.
