I had the honour of joining the Royton Branch of The Royal British Legion at Royton Cemetery for the Project 100 ceremony this afternoon – a tribute to our local heroes who have served and sacrificed.
It was also great to visit Viv Hardaker and colleagues at Royton Poppies stall. Thank you
Project 100 identified and honoured the graves of Royton’s veterans, ensuring that their memory is preserved with the dignity they deserve. Every year as part of the build up to Remembrance, the Royal British Legion Royton Branch place a Poppy Cross on each of the 40 plus war graves in the cemetery. A small service is held, roll call read out and then Poppy Crosses are placed on each grave of a soldier who died in service.
Thank you to the all Royton Branch members, who provide essential welfare support to our local veterans and their families year round and a special thanks to Major Eddy Hardaker. #LoveOldham #LestWeForget #RoyalBritishLegion
