A series of services took place across our borough, to commemorate those who lost their lives in two world wars and more than 70 other conflicts.
The services were held in conjunction with branches of the Royal British Legion, residents, uniformed services and representatives of all organisations.
It was an honour for me to participate in the service, standing alongside fellow community members and laying a wreath at the Oldham War Memorial in the heart of our Town Centre.
Let us remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice 
They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning,
We will remember them.
