Statement in response to the terror attacks in London (March 22, 2017)

Councillor Dr Zahid Chauhan said: “My heart goes out to all of those affected by the terrible events in and around Westminster Square on March 22nd – particularly those who have lost loved ones. The attack demonstrates that there are still those who wish to disrupt and even attempt to destroy our parliamentary democracy. They will not prosper. The fortitude already shown by those working within Westminster to return to normality and the heroism of the police and my colleagues in the health and emergency services demonstrates, that Britain stands together, united against terrorism. That solidarity applies in our communities too, where we will continue to work side by side to defeat hatred.”
