World Immunisation Week takes place in the last week of April. This global health initiative reminds us that vaccines are one of the most powerful tools we have in protecting our health, preventing disease and saving lives. Vaccines protect children and adults alike – from routine childhood vaccinations like the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) to flu shots and shingles vaccines. Immunisation matters because it provides protection for everyone and plays a crucial role in preventing outbreaks of preventable diseases.
This year, World Immunisation Week is especially important for Oldham. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) have confirmed that measles is currently circulating in Oldham. The most effective way to prevent measles is through vaccination #WorldImmunisationWeek #ProtectYourCommunity #PublicHealth
